a & d do Wedluxe – Part I

We are huge fans of Wedluxe Magazine here at aVd Events Inc. Therefore, it only seemed fitting we’d attend this years show at the Royal York in downtown Toronto.  After attending last years show as an eager bride and side kick bridesmaid, we had high expectations for another incredible event.

Expectedly, this years show was all about luxury, glamour, style – an all around “go big or go home” showcase.  From lavender and rose adorned canopies, beauty bars, Gatsby inspired tea room to fabulous guest swag bags – the Wedluxe team satisfied all your senses.

One of our favourite aspects of the show were the fashion pieces. An awe-inspiring display of bridal gowns highlighting some of the hottest trends for 2013.  We’re seeing a return to vintage with inspiration from the twenties and thirties. Bridal designers are paying close attention to fabric choices, detail, silhouette and tailoring. Colour is making a comeback! We love the hints of blush, silver and red trending this season. Our favourite pieces from the show were a stunner from Valencienne; blush one shoulder from Ines Di Santo; soft textures from Vera Wang and tonnes of tulle from Kenneth Poole.

Some of the most creative booths came to us courtesy of the industry’s floral designers.  We preferred the less is more vignettes with an emphasis on soft, pretty, neutral palettes. De Rose Designs & Floral Boutique had one of the most exquisite booths. We loved the use of colour, lighting with candles and variances in height and depth. Owner Lisa De Rose showcased her realm of talent with a stunning rose-covered bench and use of vintage suitcases. All we can say is love, love, love!

What we really appreciated this year were the vendors who kept it real. Celebrationz were a new discovery for us at aVd Events Inc.  Amanda and Justin amazed us with their use of natural elements and rustic simplicity. Whimsical yet elegant!image

Floral sculptures were also a trend at this years show. Floating florals from FOS Decor Centre; cascading roses and orchids from Royal Orchid Florist and white on white from San Remo Florist. All three showcased how far you can push the envelope and still appeal to the average bride.

Custom anything is always a huge trend in bridal. Especially when it comes to bridal accessories. For the bride who wants to express her own individual style, yet remain classic and glamorous – look no further than Nancy Ciccone. Nancy’s collection includes pieces of pearl, crystal or combinations of the two. Coloured jewel pieces and unique design make Nancy Ciccone one of aVd Events Inc.’s favourites! Stay tuned for more from Nancy Ciccone as she prepares for her new collection launch!
