As you know, aVd Events Inc. attended the Wedluxe Show January 6th, 2013. In keeping with our last blog, we’d love to share some other highlights from the show. One of the perks of attending a bridal show are the free samples thrown at you from eager vendors. Many of the best samples come from the industry’s leading pastry chefs and bakers. One of our favourites at the show and always is Bobbette & Belle. Their booth was impeccable showcasing grand cakes, delicate pastry confections and delicious gourmet cookies. We especially loved the caramel corn they handed out to guests as the passed by. Always impressive!
The Wedding Cake Shoppe was also one of the booths that caught our eye. We loved the decadence of their designs and elements of 2013 trends. Like Bobbette & Belle, they were able to display their abilities to the high-end bride, as well as appeal to the bride on a budget.
A prominent theme not only at the show, but throughout bridal magazines this season was Gatsby everything! Art Deco inspired decor, floral, cakes, fashion and of course invitations. We are huge fans of the flapper era and the bold graphics of that time period, we just didn’t care for the influence on stationary. Art Deco is bold, elegant yet sharp – you either love it or hate it! We still love a classic, timeless simple invitation that doesn’t scream trendy! We love idea of incorporating aspects of this trend into your event but not recreating the set of the latest film. In short, more Leo less deco!
